Bad Brains is the self-titled debut studio album recorded by American hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on (then) cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as "The Yellow Tape" because of it's yellow packaging. Though Bad Brains had recorded the 16 song Black Dots album in 1979 and the 5-song Omega Sessions EP in 1980, the ROIR cassette was the band's first release of anything longer than a single. The release includes the original liner notes by Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo.This reissue marks the second release in the remaster campaign on the band's own Bad Brains Records imprint with Org Music. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains' recordings. The audio was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.

But there’s a reason SABLE, is of a piece with fABLE; the shadow still rears its head in lighter times. Even when you’ve reached a new chapter, you’ll still find yourself back in your own foundational muck. A fable isn’t a fairy tale. There’s good stuff: unbridled joy and trips to Spain. But fables aren’t hinged on happy endings; they’re here to instill a lesson.
As the album winds to a close, he acknowledges the need for patience and a commitment to put in the work. There’s a selfless rhythm required when you’re enmeshing yourself with another person. The song—and by extension the entire album—is a pledge. He’s ready to find that pace.

Phoebe Bridgers wrote her first song at age 11, spent her adolescence at open mic nights, and busked through her teenage years at farmers markets in her native Los Angeles. By age 20, she'd caught the ear of Ryan Adams, who listened to her perform her song "Killer" in his L.A. studio, inviting her to come back and record it there the next day. The session blossomed into the three-song ‘Killer’ EP, released to much acclaim on Adams’s Pax-Am label in 2015. In the two short years since, Bridgers has toured or played with Conor Oberst, Julien Baker, City and Colour, Violent Femmes, Mitski, Television and Blake Babies among others. On September 22nd, Phoebe Bridgers will release her debut full-length, Stranger In The Alps. From the weeping strings and Twin Peaks twangs of opening track Smoke Signals, to the simple heartbreak of Funeral and melancholic crescendo of Scott Street, Stranger in the Alps is a swooningly beautiful record with a gothic heart.

If you purchased a snake plant, asparagus fern, peace lily, or what have you from Mother Earth on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles (or bought a Simmons mattress from Sears) in 1976, you also took home Plantasia, an album recorded especially for plants. Subtitled "warm earth music for plants... and the people that love them," it was full of bucolic, charming, stoner-friendly, decidedly unscientific tunes enacted on the new-fangled device called the Moog. Before Brian Eno did it, Mort Garson was making discreet music. Julliard-educated and active as a session player in the post-war era, Garson wrote lounge hits, scored the 1969 moon-landing and plush arrangements for Doris Day, and garlanded weeping countrypolitan strings around Glen Campbell's "By the Time I Get to Phoenix." But as his daughter Day Darmet recalls: "When my dad found the synthesizer, he realized he didn't want to do pop music anymore." Garson encountered Robert Moog and his new device at the Audio Engineering Society's West Coast convention in 1967 and immediately began tinkering with the device. "My mom had a lot of plants," Darmet says. "She didn't believe in organized religion, she believed the earth was the best thing in the whole world. Whatever created us was incredible." And she also knew when her husband had a good song. Novel as it might seem, Plantasia is simply full of good tunes. This release marks the first official re-issue of the long sought-a er cult classic. Hearing Plantasia in the 21st century, it seems less an ode to our photosynthesizing friends by Garson and more an homage to his wife, the one with the green thumb that made everything flower around him."My dad would be totally pleased to know that people are really interested in this music that had no popularity at the time," Darmet says of Plantasia's new renaissance. "He would be fascinated by the fact that people are finally understanding and appreciating this part of his musical career that he got no admiration for back then." Garson seems to be everywhere again, even if he's not really noticed, just like a houseplant.

140g single jacket 1LP black vinyl of Cory Wong's latest album 'Starship Syncopation' with the Metropole Orkest.Collaboration in it's purest form is something that features the two artists involved while drawing something out of each other that they never would have been able to pull off on their own. This is why I love doing it. It keeps my creative mind spinning and inspired. I did a short run of concerts a few years back that featured the Metropole Orkest, and we've discussed working on a project together ever since. I've never seen an orchestra who is so versatile in being able to play classical and also groove based music. I knew that we'd be able to capture something really special if I utilized them alongside my band.When writing this album I knew that the hard hitting groove and funk elements needed to be represented, but in a new and unique way that I've not been able to explore on past projects. As someone who's eternally curious, I wrote and demoed about 25 songs to see what kind of space I could explore with 50 extra musicians in the band.The possibilities seemed endless until I realized that the arrangements could just weave in rather than being alongside. Once I started to write and arrange the music in a way that made it feel like ONE ensemble, it made itself very clear how to move forward and make the album.The recording process was great because after putting demos together I recorded my band and rhythm section in Minneapolis where I typically make my albums, then took it to the arranging phase. The demos had key lines and moments that I wanted the orchestra to cover, but I worked with other orchestral arrangers to help bring it to life (and to help me with the daunting task of writing out all of the music for 50+ musicians per song). The additional writers/featured artists/arrangers I worked with on this project really helped me hone in the vision further because it helped me further imagine all of the areas that the orchestra could be utilized. There's everything from hard hitting bangers like "Burning" and "Starship Syncopation" to emotional filmic sounding music like "Quotidian Fields (feat. Bruce Hornsby)". My goal with every album I make is to find new ways to discover parts of my artistry and voice; to grow and learn through the experiences. This album was an amazing opportunity to explore new territory for both Metropole Orkest and I.

Nick Drake's third and final album, many consider to be his finest moment, was a radical departure from his previous work, stripped of the lush orchestral arrangements, Pink Moon featured Drake alone on vocals, acoustic guitar and the occasional piano accompaniment. This starkness was matched in brevity, with Pink Moon consisting of 11 short songs coming to less than half-an-hour of music. Though critically well received at the time, commercial success did not arrive till nearly 30 years later, when 30 seconds of 'Pink Moon' was used in a Volkswagen commercial.

This reinvigorated line-up sees Raging Speedhorn not only capture the spirit of the band's DNA but pushing their own musical boundaries and swagger into new uncharted territories. Recorded with Russ Russell (Napalm Death, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir) at Parlour Studios in Kettering, UK, the relationship between the band and Russell has been honed over many years - he produced Lost Ritual and Hard To Kill. The result is an album demonstrating a finely tuned songwriting finesse that once again makes the sextet stand out like diamonds.
